When these gorgeous birds showed up in the afternoon, I grabbed a plate of cat food and asked Ken to try to get a photo. They came running over and close, but wouldn't eat directly off the plate. Next time I'll have him feed them and I'll get close enough to feature those amazing, iridescent feathers!
@peekysweets I would *never* try to run off the locals! (Well, our daughter HAS seen a large, male black bear on the trail cam walking past the house! There will be NO photos of that one! He'll have the place to himself, but I won't leave him snacks!) Peacocks are a different story...and all-over eye candy!!!
@annied See that "yard around me"? The house sits on 16 acres of Avocado groves and all those grasses! They're here to strip the grass seeds, so my 15 minutes with them is nothing more than "a treat" in the afternoon! I understand your advice, but waving grasses at them, won't bring them closer for some photos!
@corinnec Common sense says I should try to be more cautions, but I never have been! There's been a "joke" on the internet that likely says it all... If you find I've been eaten by a mountain lion, you can be pretty sure my last words were, "Here, Kitty Kitty!" Must be a Steve Irwin sense of invincibility!
@Weezilou Yes, no cat food for that BEAR! Eesh! I've always been Fascinated with male peacocks and that the males in the animal kingdom tend to be the "pretty" ones! Eye candy, indeed!
