Resultant Kitchen-Scrap Gardening

I plant the roots from every purchased green onion, and have greens to cut off when I want them for a salad or recipe. I've grown so many, a few have become huge and are going to seed...which I can later plant and have more onions! It's such a pleasure to garden and be able to eat what we grow (minimal amounts, though they may be!)
A. Lovely seed head.

@wakelys @kchuk @corinnec @365projectorgchristine @kwind @joansmor @louannwarren @radiogirl @koalagardens @illinilass @edorreandresen Thanks for the comments, and if you give this a try, I know how delighted you will be! (I learned about "Kitchen-scrap gardening" on Pinterest) Green onions couldn't be easier! I don't even rush to plant them...set them in a small cup with a tiny splash of water, and in a few days, the new greens will start. When I get to it, I plant them in flower pots with other plants, and you can keep cutting off the greens starting in about 2 weeks...and they keep growing back! I bought seeds only once for lettuce and hollyhocks & now I gather the seeds at the end of the season. You can also start celery from the base of the (grocery store) stalk...it grows thinner stalks, but lots of flavour and good in cooking...and it's on hand! https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?rs=ac&len=2&q=kitchen%20scrap%20gardening%20regrow%20vegetables&eq=Kitchen%20scrap%20gardening&etslf=16296
