For several days Ken and I baked and last night, assisted at a fund raiser to bring a concert series to this academy http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2012-09-19 that's been sitting empty for a few years. Tickets to the event were sold at $200 apiece, so it was such fun to be a part of the event (for our cookie-and-meringue entry fee!) We're every excited about the upcoming schedule of music, led by Maestro Zedda, coming here from Italy to open with a Rossini Opera!
In my excitement, I don't want to forgot to mention that this photo was taken from the 3rd floor (upper right) looking toward Lunenburg Harbour. For over 100 years, grade school children sat in classrooms overlooking this view.
Last night, the former mayor, officiating, said that the first graduate of this school is still living at 107 years old (!) and is still alert and easy to talk to! Pretty wonderful!
@pyrrhula Yes, I LIKE being busy up here! That is the town's oldest graveyard, called "Gallow's Hill" and imagine that sitting right alongside a grade school all those years!
A lovely view and what an experience that must have been. Isn't it interesting how things can become so intertwined. So amazing the first graduate of the school is still living, would have been great to meet her as well.
