In the Heartland of Movie *Magic*

Even the Canadian Maritimes didn't have this much snow yet...

Welcome to the Frozen Tundra of Southern California! We have the know-how...

seriously?!? and we're only getting some rain! :-(

@summerfield A large investment in cotton batting will get you the look you're trying to achieve... and the heat wave we're currently having as well!

Lots of rain in Richmond but a promise of clear skies on Christmas.
December 24th, 2014
Well it looks lovely
December 24th, 2014
Wow, that is amazing, interesting and beautiful ... fav

Oh dear! not my philosophical cup of tea, but interesting and challenging to see it. Hollywood should know poinsettias don't flower in the snow.
December 24th, 2014
@Weezilou - get out of town! you had me fooled!
December 24th, 2014
@ethelperry neither does that plumeria (franjapani) on the right! At least I went for the shots that contained some "simplicity" in their excess... You wouldn't believe the (literal) carnivals in some of the front yards!

Frozen tundra indeed! Ha ha ... only thing missing is the cottonwool snowman
December 24th, 2014
@_catherine_ EVERYONE had a snowman...it was SO overdone......you can clearly see they were trying to maintain a certain level of understated sophistication...

The frozen tundra of southern California, mmm something fishy going on ...
December 24th, 2014
It sure doesn't look like California with the white stuff!
Great find Louise.
December 24th, 2014
Fabulous!
December 24th, 2014
that's funny, and everyday i look at the snow on the hills ringing our valley and say 'stay there'.
December 24th, 2014
Crazy! Its fun how people love to decorate their homes. I bet these people had a blast doing it.
December 24th, 2014
Awesome shot
December 24th, 2014
Outrageous...and NOT in a good way. Great photo of the follies of some.

@summerfield @allie912 @digitalrn @lynnz @ethelperry @_catherine_ @boxplayer @radiogirl @cglist @chard @teiko @kerristephens @voiceprintz I took delight in the variety of your responses to this one! Love it or hate it, it was someone's gift to the populace passing by, and for me, it was a "stand-out in simplicity" amidst "Disneyland South"! (yes, that's just 10 miles up the road...) My gratitude for this "gift" is that it was something interesting to photograph and I didn't have to get on the freeway at rush hour to find it!

Merry Christmas! Joyoux Noel! Bon Natale! Feliz Cumpleanos! and my childhood favorite, Mele Kalilkimaka! xox♥

Love all the "shades" of white. Where was this???
December 24th, 2014
@aglennc We have a neighborhood in the heart of Ftn Valley that has plenty to look at in a short walk...the little ones loved it! I enjoy Balboa Island, but the parking there is a nightmare, so we'll save that for "before New Year's Eve"... Merry Christmas!
December 24th, 2014
@radiogirl I thought of your backyard when I put this one up! Actually, YOUR yard is the only snow scene of any worth that I've seen this month! In this Land of 'Enhancement', this is yet another Fake ;-)
December 24th, 2014
@WeezilouLouise even though this is not real, it's amazing how much they have put into making this appear to be snow, very impressive, all we have to do is watch it FALL from the sky!!
December 24th, 2014
LOL!!!
December 25th, 2014
Great shot of this nice house and the snow. Do you have much snow in California ?
December 27th, 2014
@pyrrhula Oh, Ferry, the whole image is "movie magic"! In over 40 years in this same neighborhood, I have only seen a hail storm once that left the ground covered in white for about an hour! We do get snow in the mountain ski resorts about a 2 hour drive from here, but *never* snow in Orange County and Los Angeles! That is "cotton batting" that would be used to make quilts...not snow at all, but it does look real, doesn't it?! Many people around here use that to imitite snow, but I think it worked especially well in this case with all the "white and lights"!

@Weezilou Thanks Louise , it sure fools me .
