I've been dying to play with layers again when I had some free time! Tonight I borrowed it from A Good Night's Sleep! Except for the music notes, the photo and textures were my photographs. As these things can be unpredictable, I wasn't overjoyed about the brown tones I ended up with, so I stripped it down to B&W. I like the way this turned out so much, I'm going to have to ask Ken to reconsider having those dead limbs cut down...
@pusspup Thanks for the compliment! I didn't do much processing besides correcting levels in PS, but then I put it into OnOne Photo Effects, and used a number of photo layers of my own. There was a color layer that disappeared when I selected B&W, and the curved scratches was a photo of sand at the water's edge on a beach in Hawaii. I photograph lots of things now to use as layers! The music is off Google Images.
@cruiser Thank you Chris! The hour was late, but I was just dying for some play time and went to bed satisfied after I had a go at this one!
@jamibann Oh I do remember that movie! Of course I have no fear of birds, so it never felt particularly scary. And obviously the crows don't make music , but I loved the loud conversation three of them were having up there!
Loved reading about all the steps you followed. I have PS Elements, but have not taught myself very much. Do you import an image and save it as a layer?
@allie912 I've been assisted by so many other people here, I'm happy to share what I've done if it helps! I have Photoshop and open and color correct my image, using the levels and exposure to my liking. THEN, I open that finished picture in OnOne Photo Effects (some while back someone said the company was offering that for free, and I snagged it and LOVE it!) There are a zillion ways to change the look of a photo with the click of a button. Over time I've learned what I like most, and can often anticipate what will work and what won't (for me and my taste). I often get a happy surprise; I can't recommend that program enough! On the surface it['s super simple to use, but in time you learn all the bells and whistles that are also at your disposal. When it's not "free", I think it costs about $99.

@trm Thanks! That's was I was working at!
