"Stop Action" Hummie by Weezilou

"Stop Action" Hummie

We put up a 3rd feeder just below where my hummingbird always puts her nest, and I can sit there, only about 6' from it and watch her when she comes to drink. Nice in concept, but too busy a background... I also cranked up the ISO so I could capture he without the wing movement, but I don't care for that as much. To me, it takes away the essence of what a hummingbird in flight looks like! However, I wanted to share the enjoyment of watching her close up, and, after a visit north to see the grandkids, I think I'll hang a backdrop...

Stay tuned!
How lucky to have them visit so close.

So wonderful to see these beautiful tiny birds so close! You are truly blessed with all the fantastic wildlife In your garden and I love the fact that they become so tame as they get to know you! Peaceable Kingdom indeed! Fav!

Very nice ...Hummingbirds are awesome! eBird reports that someone in my area saw one a couple of days ago, but this is so early in the year for my area that I imagine it was just passing through.

Well even with your perceived unhappiness with this, it is lovely anyway!

I just saw this evening a movie on TV about the love life of Hummingbirds. Very beautiful.
Great shot of yours. Fav.

Well done to stop this one in action, it looks tiny.

@golftragic They average 3 grams! One was sitting close by in a tree chirping at me, and I could see he's a teensy bit smaller than my little finger... They're pretty astounding!

Splendid capture. Birds are tough to get...at least for me.

@pcarlaw Thanks, Peggy! The hummers spend so much time around us, I don't even begin to go after every opportunity. I have more failures than successes, but primarily trying to get them "still" while in flight! As I said, now that I got it, I actually like a little wing blur better! They often sit on tree twigs, and then I take all I can get!

@Weezilou Holey Moley, that is one teensy-weensy bird. Great work to capture one at all.
