This morning we attended a memorial service for a friends Dad who passed away a few days ago. He was 97 years old. His Dad served in the Royal Canadian Air Force starting at the age of 21. He served in both WW II and the Korean War.
At one point they had this honour guard and it was moving to watch people stand at the front and pay respect by removing the poppy they were wearing and place it in front of a picture of their friend and comrade.
Here you can see a retired General standing at the front paying his respects. Just a note the General is the oldest member of the legion as he will soon be turning 100
Lovely shot and a great tribute to a dear person. Remind me of my brother who was Sargeant Major in the K.O.M.R. (King's Own Malta Regiment) before it was disbanded but the regiment is still recognised and my brother always carries the flag of the defunct regiment in ceremonies like this
