Weekly Theme - Filters

Inspired by last week's theme that encouraged you to play with light and dark, another way to make the most out of your surroundings - both during and after taking photos - is with filters.

There are so many techniques and tricks to experiment with this week's filters theme that you might surprise yourself with the transformation they can make!

Maybe you'll try playing with physical filters for your SLR, like:

• Skylight Filters - to protect from UV or the elements.


• Polarizing Filters - to cut through glare and transform any water based photography.


• Neutral Density Filters - to smooth out motion by forcing a longer exposure

Or, perhaps you'll try a few low-cost hacks, like shooting through sunglasses or ski goggle lenses. Or, maybe you'll experiment with filters in after-effects!

Whatever you decide to go for, it'd be amazing to read about your techniques in the description box of the photos you enter into the theme.

How to enter this week's theme

When uploading your photos use the tag section (on the edit/organise screen) and insert this week's theme tag: theme-filters.

Entry Guidelines: Photos must be your own and must have been taken and uploaded from Monday 29th January until the following Saturday (6 days). 5 finalists will be chosen on the Sunday afternoon (PST), then you get to vote for the winner.

For us, there is something about @adi314's photo that looks like a picture-perfect, model village - with a giant, imposing 'Ottawa' sign, boldly taking over the square and standing out against the beautiful brickwork.
