Italy Day 6: Torre di Paciano by boxplayer

Italy Day 6: Torre di Paciano

Our lovely medieval tower.

A lie-in this morning, then breakfast outside in more warm sunshine. This morning, drove to Citta de la Pieva, yet another pretty, hill-top town full of winding, narrow, cobbled streets, bedecked in colourful pot plants and lines of washing. Has allegedly the narrowest lane in Italy, just big enough to steal a kiss from a woman, hence its name Vicolo Baciodonne. Also spent time looking at a fresco by Perugino (this area’s famous son) in the oratory, a rather splendid Adoration of the Kings. Time for an ice-cream stop, before heading back for lunch of panzanella, tomato salad and leftover lentils.

A leisurely afternoon as usual, two games of Hearts, reading by the pool, then some rather violent pool games of netball and piggy in the middle – there were some big cheaters in our group I can tell you … I still have the bruises.

As the afternoon turned to evening, Anna played us some lovely tunes, and Lara and Peter danced prettily on the balcony. Dinner was Sylvia and Caroline’s very tasty lasagne and Lara’s prosecco fruit salad. Games to end the day with bananagrams which I was surprisingly rubbish at – I’m usually good with words …
