Madonna and Child

Jacob Epstein's Madonna and Child 1953 in Dean's Mews north of Oxford Street - now home to the King's Fund, but once the site of the Convent of the Holy Child Jesus.

The mews was severely damaged in the war. The arch was created to link the two sides and a sculpture commissioned - it used roofing lead from the damaged building but the choice of artist proved controversial. https://www.patrickcomerford.com/2023/09/an-afternoon-with-jacob-epsteins.html
