Today we were in the right place at the right time to see the changing of the guard at Horse Guards Parade. There were so many tourists though & mounted police trying to stop them getting in the way that it was difficult to get a decent photo. So this is one of the two sentries that stand guard at the entrance to horse guards. It can't always be the easiest of jobs, what with the fickle British weather, blazing heat one week & pouring rain the next, people that they aren't allowed to converse with who want to have pictures taken with them, or worse might be trying to make them laugh etc.
They look fantastic, but not a job I would want!
Great capture, we were at Changing of the Guard once in London, shot a great photo, but, marveled at how many thoughtless people thought it funny to almost " nose to nose" the poor chap & laugh in his face etc.
Great shot! My youngest son was in the scots guards and had to do 6 months in London guarding the palace and Windsor. He hated it as not what he had joined for but as he gets older I think he will realise what a privilege it was. He saw Will and Kate's wedding and we watched him parading in the Trooping the Colour - I was so proud! He said it was just practice after practice!!
