In Grand Baie, next to an under-construction residential development, the authorities have left a small area to grow wild - a size 1.5km by 500 metres, thereabouts.
There is some control of the overall grass growth, but for the most part, it’s untamed. There are quite a few wild little treasures to be found here, plus distinct clumps of grass left to grow high, a couple of trees, and a few bush clusters.
I suppose one day it will be used for some other purpose, but for now, it's a welcome mostly-untended green space.
This wildflower is called coatbuttons - what a cute name.
