We noticed as we descended into the Dale that there seemed to be we presume a Scouts or Guides camp out. If photo is zoomed you can see the details better. Can you imagine a more beautiful spot to camp? The weather has improved with a 20c temp and a drop of sunshine.

Thank you for the heather update, we are getting there slowly! Katharine and I went to Hutton le Hole to do the short circular walk to Lastingham. There were still patches of bell heather, looking rather faded, and small patches of ling beginning to flower, but not yet enough to give Spaunton Moor its carpet of purple.
