When Overwhelmed By The Burdens Of Life
Call Upon Him And He Will Hear Your Cry
He Will Walk With You, He Will Be By Your Side
When You Are Weak, He Will Be Your Strength
When You Feel All Is Lost, He Will Renew Your Hope
(Rick Schies)
I wrote these words as a prayer a few years ago to go with a photo I did for a friend who lost someone special. This morning I captured this beautiful sunrise on my way to work, and decided to use it for my posting tonight. I want to use it as a tribute to those who have suffered great personal losses in Japan, and for anyone else experiencing loss at this time. Recently, in a small town near Harrisburg, PA a family lost seven of their eight children in a deadly house fire. Their funeral was today, and during the news cast tonight, they showed all seven little caskets lined up under the cemetary tent. Heart wrenching! As a Parent, I cannot imagine losing one child. I cannot begin to imagine the pain associated with losing seven at one time. The pain must be unbearable, and though we all know the sun will continue to rise, even after such a tragedy, I don't know how one could humanly cope with such a tragic loss. I would definitely need to rely on a higher power to get through such a difficult time. My prayers go out to this family, and to all those who are suffering such loss. Remembering the hurting.
Lovely tribute, Rick. I watched the news tonight of coverage of the terrible tragedy in Japan. Whole towns just disappeared. They spoke to one survivor from a town that once had a population of 12,500 to now only have 5,000 now accounted for, and he said, "It was like living in a dream." Then he walked on through the rubble slowy pushing his bike over an unrecognisable landscape. Heartwrenching.
Stunning photo and such a sincere and touching dedication to all those suffering around the world. It seems there are so many tragic events in the world lately that it's almost too depressing to watch the news these days. I heard the story of the 7 children....it's beyond comprension how people can endure this kind of loss and still go on living .
A sunrise like this makes one so thankful to be alive. Your words remind us all of what we have to be thankful for and to say prayers for those who have suffered so much loss. Take care.
Thank you Rick, I take comfort in your words tonight. You truely are a master writer. The photo is very warming, I love the sunlight on the trees and the matching border.
You sure know how to give a lady an extra lift. The Lord is very close to me as I am struggling with all the things in my life and what is happening in the world. Hi Rick so glad I got a chance to pop in.
Oh, Rick. That sky looks so immense in your photo, big enough to hold all those lost in these recent tragedies. This actually brought tears to my eyes. Making it a fav.
Loving, tender words and another stunning photo. Reading your pieces and looking at your work for the day has become my evening devotional. You always point our eyes, hearts and minds Upward. Thanks for sharing your gift with us!
Amen Rick. I read that story of the Amish family in our local paper, and indeed, who can overcome such a loss without the belief in a higher power who offers the comfort of a real and eternal home.
Such a beautiful photo and tribute. I heard about the family who lost the seven children in the house fire and like you, can't imagine how one copes with a loss like that. And of course I also think about the people in Japan and the struggles they are encountering each day.
Gorgeous photo and sunset! I'm so sorry about the tragic loss of life. I too can't imagine losing one child, let alone multiple children at once. Last October I went to the funeral for my friend's two grandbabies who were killed in a house fire and it was so heart wrenching. A 3 year old and a 4 year old.
My thoughts and prayers also go out to everyone who has been affected by the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster in Japan.

The photo is gorgeous.
