Had to find something to post for St Patrick's Day. It was a busy day. Left work early to drop off my wife for a luncheon meeting, and then had some pre-op testing done in preparation for my upcoming surgery next Thursday. I have been having constant, unbearable pain in my left thumb. I finally made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon a few weeks ago and found out my joint is nothing but bone on bone. I knew I did not want to continue having this pain, as it does tend to make me quite uncomfortable, and sometimes miserable (I know that's hard to believe). So after listening to my options, I opted for surgery. So next Thursday I will be having a complete joint replacement on my carpal-metacarpal joint. They are actually going to give me a new ball and socket for my thumb. He promises no loss of muscle, and I should have full range of motion and total regaining of grip strength, which at this point I have almost none. It's amazing what they can do, thank goodness. Anyway, I found this "3 Leaf" clover, and although rumor has it that "4 Leaf" clovers are the ones to bring you luck, I also found this wee little Leprechaun hiding in the clover (And I always thought they were a myth). I begged him to pose for me, and lucky for me he agreed. In summary, a "3 Leaf" clover and a Leprechaun, how much more luck do I need?
Had to mark this a fav for timeliness, ingenuity, creativity and just to give you an extra boost before surgery.Just curious--what have you been doing with that thumb to need a joint replacement?
Great macro. Sorry to hear about your thumb but I find it amazing that they can do an operation like that! I wish that you will heal quickly. Keep that little leprechaun for good luck.
Very cute, Rick, and so festive. Love that it's so close, I can see the little barb things at the end of the "vein" (don't know what that's called - lol). Good luck with the upcoming surgery. I'll be thinking of you.
Very creative, Rick. Sorry to hear about your thumb but it will be so much better. Had a knee replaced last year and can walk well without a limp this year. Are you going to the "big hospital" or the new hospital for your surgery. If the new one, I'll look you up.
@bpizzo Actually Barb, I am going to have it done at Osteopathic near Harrisburg, and the surgeon doing the surgery actually was fulfilling his residency when I worked there several years ago, so it was nice catching up a bit. Were you talking about St Joseph's, their new one?
Ha! OMG Rick this is too creative for words.....brilliant idea and excecution! Sorry to hear about your impending surgery but better to get it over with rather than to continue suffering with the pain. Best wishes for a quick recovery!
it's hard to believe you are miserable sometimes, I hope your surgery is going to go really well. good luck!
the photo is very cool and cute, as for the Leprechaun, cuteness!!
@clarissajohal Clarissa, no, I am not nervous at all. The worst part of it all is that I will need to be off work, and I do not like taking vacation time for something like this. I would much rahter take it to have fun, not recuperate. But, I am glad they can repair it.
Rick, I am sorry to hear about your troubles with your hand...I saw your post from today and realized I'd missed many and needed to catch up and see what you were recovering from! As for the photo, I love it, what a cute little friend you found there =)
