Well what a fabulous response to the first settings challenge! Lots of people have put in a lot of hard work and really made strides with their cameras and photos. I intended having 5 finalists but ended up with 6 and I could have had more. I've gone for shots that really demonstrate the use of f5.6 for shallow DOF or to capture action and that also have good exposure. And of course subject and composition are also important. You have Thursday to vote (until 6am Central Standard time on Friday = 12 noon in the UK). And I'll post the winner on Friday. Special thanks to the people who gave feedback during the competition - if you're an experienced photographer and willing to give tips and tricks and constructive feedback (in a nice) way please do - either here or on the original competition page where there are more examples. Top tip for future competitors - when you've tagged your photo click on the tag to make sure it appears with all the others as some were not there and I had to track them down.
@judithg You did wonderful and I am thrilled that you offered such great advice to everyone who entered.
What a fantastic start to this challenge and I trust the challenges will continue and so will the participation I know I will take advantage of them. I took the majority of my shots with the f5.6 (haha, I even know what that is now!)! After seeing those entries I was certainly glad it wasn't me who had to make the selection. The photo's were fantastic. On a personal note I took a huge leap forward with my camera because of this challenge.
If possible I would like to see the links to the challenges for future reference.
Thank you everyone who participated in this challenge, whether it was offering feedback, or adding entries.
So hard to choose out of these wonderful photos, I usually know straight away which one but this is difficult !!! Great job Judith but will pick number 1
I'm confused what are we judging?

@dmortega Just your favourite shot but as the challenge was to use an aperture of f5.6 I selected shots where use of that setting was particularly successful.
@judithg I think if the next person who hosts the challenge can add the link to challenge #1 it would be helpful for future references but if that doesn't happen it isn't the end of the world!

I feel it really highlights the shallow DOF and how it should be used to separate the subject from the background. It is an excellent example.
