14th July 2021

1 year, 110 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020

Today it was rather a grey day although still quite mild. We decided to start off by heading to Lavenham to see the houses which are now at amazing angles. We managed to visit the National Trust Guildhall building despite not having booked tickets in advance and tested out their cafe as well.

Then we drove on and through Kelsey which apparently has the most attractive High Street in the South East… we saw this both ways as we had to drive down into the village and then the only way back to where we wanted to be was back the way we had come in!

We then headed towards the coast and Orford Ness. We had hoped to take the little boat over to the island to explore but in true National Trust style, the boat only runs a few days a week and that wasn’t today. Whilst pottering around and enjoying a lovely mackerel pate and toast in one of the fishing sheds, I finally got a snotty reply from the manager of the Twickenham Waterstones. It shouldn’t really effect me but it does and rather ruined the end of our final day in Suffolk.
