Today was a lovely day - sunny and warm and we had planned a few weeks ago to meet up with friends and enjoy a walk up in town. Colin had planned a walk around Hampstead Heath so we travelled up on the train via Richmond to Gospel Oak and then after a coffee and cake we wandered across the beautiful Heath as far as Kenwood House which I have never seen before.
It was a little difficult navigating across the Heath but we did manage to find our way out to the Holly Bush pub for lunch as planned. Unfortunately our next planned step of walking to a restaurant in Aldgate was scuppered as we discovered that it was actually closed on a Friday! This did not stop us continuing on the second part of the day and travel down to Island Gardens on the DLR and walk along the Thames on the opposite bank to Greenwich, towards Canary Wharf where, as we were flagging we caught the tube back to Waterloo and timed it perfectly for the train back home.
As Richard and Anne were worn out, we went our separate ways and could not summon the energy to go to a restaurant as planned so I popped out for an M&S pizza instead!!
