A number of month ago we were able to book tickets to see the stage show Abba Voyage in Stratford. I have wanted to see it for ages as it is basically a concert by Abba looking like they did in the 1970’s by using holograms and special effects. I didn’t know what to expect other than the fact that every single review I have read raved about the concert.
It was a bit of a trek up to the venue as normally we head to the West End but this time we needed to get to Pudding Mill Lane near Stratford and we discovered on route that the DLR was not in operation so there was a rapid rethink using three different apps on my phone but despite a diversion and unexpected bus trip, we arrived and were in the venue and hour early so plenty of time to eat our M&S sandwiches and Welsh cakes which we had brought!
We finally got in and discovered the seats we had been allocated had an excellent view of the stage. We felt a little underdressed amongst the sequins and 70’s outfits but all this was forgotten as the show started. I have no ides how they managed the effects - even by staring with my binoculars for a close view. However, it was superb - ninety minutes of brilliance which I don’t want to spoil for anyone due to go. Fantastic and yes, we were up on our feet for the last two songs as well. The journey back was considerably easier and we were home with a cup of tea and a biscuit by 11.00pm.
