This week from the 5th to the 11th, we are to pay attention to lines, shape or space and how those elements balance out a picture, draw emphasis to the subject or their proportion within the picture in order to get a sense or a feeling of our subject in a new and creative way.
We are asked to choose one of those elements and watch how they work with our subject and what kinds of feelings they bring out. I chose lines.
I remembered that there were lots of interesting lines and shapes at the Federal Building in Cornwall, but, unfortunately, someone forgot to shove the stairs. Al least you can still see the shape of the stairs in the snow.
I like that the lines of the stairs are partially hidden from view--we end up imagining they must be there. The stair corner is emphasized nicely by the snow, which draws the eye in a good way. This pic evokes a feeling of warning in me, for a very practical reason--if you can't see the stairs, then don't climb them!
