I still had my 50 mm lens on the camera when the kids were preparing for the opening ceremonies. I was able to poke my camera through the fence to get close (no cropping allowed) but I couldn’t do anything about the shadow under her hat … post processing would solve that but not allowed since the object of the game is SOOC.
One option might have been to expose for the shadows but that would likely have blown out the sky or overexposed the horse. It's hard when you are used to "fixing it in post". There are so many little things that you don't think of until you realize it's sooc so you can't fix them. In this case though, the shadows aren't severe, there is still detail in her face so not to worry.
