There is something peaceful about looking into a grove of birch trees. There are probably more photos and paintings of birch trees than any other tree, either as a close-up detail of the bark, or as this shot, a whole group of them standing starkly against a dark background.
For the Flash of Red challenge - forms in nature.
oooh, i love this, wendy. last year, i went to an exhibit and saw one photograph similar to this. i've been looking for places like this ever since. hmmm...maybe it's time to visit ottawa! 😊
@summerfield
We are 1.5 hours south east of Ottawa so you have a place to stay if you would like. Would love to do a photo tour into Ottawa with you, and I am sure Adi @adi314 could take some time as well.
@summerfield I will pick you up on the way through. We could stop off and do the tour of Kingston if it's over the summer. Wendy lives in such a beautiful area. We could even do a stop off in 1,000 Islands and of course a visit to Ottawa. How many days do you think we need :) Love the birch trees by the way Wendy. Cathy @cathrinemitch has been wanting to take a photo like this too.
I've always loved birch trees- and shots like this too. I think it's the contrast of the black lines on the white bark and the patterns it makes. You are near Ottawa- I visited it many MANY years ago and it was such a pretty city!

Those birch trees are on our farm - it is one of my favourite spots on the whole farm!!
