Sad to see Alex go today... just the two of us again in the house.
She caught the train to London at lunchtime ready to set off on her 25 night Contiki tour of Europe... Paris tomorrow.
Slightly nervous as she set off but she texted me at 4.15pm to say she had arrived safely at her hotel where the tour is starting from tomorrow.
I am sure she will have a great experience.
After we dropped Alex off we went on to St. Anne's for Harry's MRI scan of his knee.
Thank you for all your comments on my project, I haven't been around as much as I usually am but we have been living it up a little, back to normal tomorrow!
Three good things:
1. I have had leftover curry tonight... thank Alex!
2. A beautiful gift and a lovely thank you letter to treasure.
3. A really great send off last night, eight friends plus the grown ups came round for supper. My B&B joined in the fun!
I seem to have a succession of photographs of the backs of my boys and other members of the family, going through the departure lounge! Sometimes they turn around and wave but generally keen to get going on the next part of the journey. Alex will be excited about that journey and will make new friends. Lovely colourful scene!
@maggiemae thank you maggiemae....must say we were very sad to see her go, she has been a joy to have in the house. Was very nervous for har this morning as she was worried about the journey a bit....was glad to get her text saying she was safely into the hotel. They will be having the meet & greet now. Paris will be ok I am sure with lots of security around.
Oh bless. Its hard to say goodbye as they set off on an adventure but nice you got to spend time with her before she went. Im sure she's enjoyed it as much as you have and that she's been spoilt :)
We said goodbye to our daughter on boxing day as she's gone to Australia, I like you was relieved when she emailed to say she'd arrived safely. Alex will have a ball :)
I know Alex's visit was a huge highlight of your holidays, Pat! I hope she has a wonderful European adventure. How fun that will be!
Hope all will be well with Harry's knee. :(
Put your feet up and have a quiet, relaxing evening. You deserve it!
You will be sad to see Alex go, but you have made some happy memories for both you and Alex.. She will have a fun time on the Contiki, and then back into work in NZ and get some muck on those new gumboots/ Wellies...
A nice scene as she walks towards the next stage of her journey ! Love how porter Granddad is following in her footsteps ! Yes , you both will miss her after these wonderful few weeks together ! I am sure all will be well with her travelling and she will thoroughly enjoy herself !
@sharrystar thanks Sharon......just been the go between to Alex & her mum in NZ ....the phone isn't working abroad for some reason....we all want to know how she is doing but am sure all is well just us worrying for nothing I'm sure!
@peggysirk it was Peggy...missing her already! I must say I am enjoying a bit quieter night ....least night was very enjoyable but am ready for slowing down!
@judithg yes group tours, Australia & NZ use them lots. There will be others on their own too but you worry at the start in case they aren't liking it. Mum can't get hold of her either ....phone isn't working so busy being in touch with both!
@beryl thank Beryl yes grandad is the porter ! She has two cases one is being left at the tour hotel until she picks it up on her return. Big job weighing both this morning! She will have a ball! She was excited!
@pinkpaintpot thanks Linda.....it was darn cold todayW we were on platform 6 so no waiting room to go in & I was far too early getting there as usual. I have a thing about being late, left over from always being late when we were milking!
Must be sad to see Alex go but you have recorded her stay so well on 365. I am sure she will check it out from time to time and remember her wonderful visit.
@seanoneill thank Sean......we have had a great time with Alex, she was so easy to have in the house....do hope she is enjoying herself. Not heard much but she is in Lucerne today. 25 nights all over Europe, she went on her own but met up with others in similar circumstances. I count my blessings every day! Hope you & your boys are doing well & all ok in your house.
