I looked out of one of the bedroom windows as I was stripping beds this morning & caught Harry coming back from the paper shop. It was a glorious morning & the leaves are just beginning to come out on the Sycamore trees.
Amanda who lives in the barn opposite came round to tell us that she too has found an injured hedgehog today in her garden...very worrying !!!
Regular viewers of my photos might remember that a few weeks ago I mentioned a seal up the river from here & I was going to try & get a picture. Well that same seal was found with a bullet in it's head under the toll bridge two weeks ago. This story was in the Daily Mail at the time. The police are investigating !!
We live in some bad times !
@shutterbugger Well the local angling club is under suspicion as it was said they didn't like the seal eating the fish but that might be completely untrue !!!
What a sad story ..........but a lovely photo!
All your grass is so nicely cut too......we can't get enough dry days.
I think we're going to have to hire a goat or cow!
@kwiksilver The lady at the hedgehog center said that foxes go for the legs on hedgehogs so as the last one had a sore leg we think that's what has been attacking the hedgehogs Gillian. Will keep you posted re seal !
What a gorgeous photo of your husband coming home ... such a beautiful pov. Your yard is amazing! You are living my "dream life," Pat! As for the rest of your story .. yes, this world is getting a bit worrisome. the poor animals around you .. such a tragedy. Hope that the problem is solved soon.
@fannyb Am sorry to say my website is well out of date Fanny !! Have been doing this job so long & have lots of regulars for the amount of work I want to do now we are retired. When I think I used to be changing beds every day, as you must do, & just don't want all that work now. I have been very busy lately with almost full time guests who work for the company doing the gas fracking here on the Fylde Coast so that has been great ! Anyway consequently I have never updated my website. !!!
Wonderful capture of your paper boy returning with the daily newspaper. Your lawn is so lush and spring green ~ and I love the white fence and the gate. Stunning property, Pat! So sorry to hear the latest report of another injured hedgehog...I wonder what is happening to those little creatures. That is such a shame. And the story of the slain seal is heartbreaking. Who would shoot a seal?!!! Some people are beyond comprehension.
I actually had 2 chaps staying 2 years ago who were from Somerset and at great expense were building tunnels under the road for newts!! Unbelievable! We don;t seem to have any hedgehogs any more here such a shame.
Nice to have the paper delivered!!!!! Nice to see the leaves just starting to burst out.......what a dreadful story, sometiimes it makes you really wonder!
