The house of Bilbo Baggins. by happypat

The house of Bilbo Baggins.

We spent a wonderful couple of hours looking round the film set of The Hobbit.
The little houses in the hillside were just perfect with great detail.
Little washing lines, wood stacks, vegetable plots & all manner of comforts for a hobbit.

The tree on top of the hill above Blibo's house had been sawn up, all the branches numbered & reassembled. Fake leaves had been attached by students..... the whole thing looked so real & birds were fooled too!

Quite expensive to go round but worth it & of course we couldn't not go as only a few miles from where we were staying.
What a brilliant opportunity not to be missed. What a pretty setting and so nice to see some green after all the snow.

@sparkle I took loads of pictures Juliette & actually this isn't a good angle as you cant see the main door very well but it was just the only position I could get the photo. I had to show you Bilbo's house though...might post some more photos sometime!

@fannyb They even had chimneys coming out of the hill & when filming burnt honeycomb so that smoke puffed out of the chimneys!

I'm so jealous. It must have felt slightly surreal (in a good way) to wander around the famous dwellings.

@bpaquette @sabresun Cost an arm & a leg to get in but well worth it...the detail was incredible!!! Even the little letterboxes depicted the trade of the hobbits.
