Lilac time. by happypat

Lilac time.

We'll gather lilacs in the Spring again
And walk together down an endless lane
Until we have learned to sing again
When you come home again.

Ivor Novello 1945.

Written as World War 2 was drawing to a close this was the song of the time.

Cathys Lilac tree was a riot of blossoms last night....the perfume in my kitchen today is divine!
They are so beautiful

They are super Pat -- I can just imagine the lovely aroma by just looking at your photo - I have no lilac tree but my neighbour across the road has a lovely white tree --Love how the sun shines in on them in your capture !

@judithg my lilac bush was planted about three years ago but no flowers yet! I love these old fashioned flowers....three colours your garden must be so beautiful now.

Gorgeous! Sends me on a nostalgia trip as an 'auntie' across the road from my parents had a row of lilac trees that I loved as a wee girl! Haven't seen many around here though......wonder if I could plant one!

Oh... memories. My mother used to play that music on the piano whilst the rest of the family sang (howled). Nice little still life shot.

Such a lovely country feel to this, nice composition. We have a mauve and White lilac in the garden but the White is tinged brown already.

@jennywren I have noticed the white doesn't keep it's colour just as long, I would be grateful for any colour though!

@happypat These trees were in the garden when moved here, 37 yrs ago. I am sure that there wasn't much blossom to start, but they are full now, so yours prob will come in time.
