Our local football team was at Wembly tonight in the play off between Preston North End & Swindon......Preston are going up to the championship League....well done 'the Lily Whites'!
I wasn't there of course, this is off the TV just a diary shot! No need to comment.
Joy for some sorrow for others. Swindon are a team that is not too far away from us so our local news will be reporting a sorry tale. Great occasion for all the fans though until the final whistle.
@barrowlane Yes joy for some & after trying for a play off win nine times & losing it was tenth time lucky! I think it said Swindon was as unlucky as U.S. In the play offs too so commiserations to them.....we know how they feel!
@dh Yes wrong shape for me too but we do like to follow our local team even if we never go to a match. Blackpool is another we like to follow but they are in dire trouble at the moment!
So is this soccer, Pat? For an unabashed sports fan, I am woefully uneducated about soccer. That will probably change next year as Harper has decided she'd rather play soccer than baseball. I'll learn all there is to know about soccer then. :)
@peggysirk yes Peggy this is soccer......the most popular sports game in the UK...religion to some! We are more into the rugby but do like to follow our local teams. Good luck to Harper...girls do really well at football here! She is a sporty little girl isn't she?
Soccer is becoming, or has become, the sport of choice for kids in the US too. Harper does love her sports, Pat. She's excited about soccer because there's much more action than baseball. Of course, I'm going to start lobbying for tennis in a year or so. Her mommy and aunt are both excellent players. Harper seems to love it too when we go over to the courts to hit balls.
@peggysirk Oh yes tennis is the thing.....so much pleasure & you can just play with one other all your life! Interesting that soccer is becoming popular....must be the Beckam factor!!
Oh well done. Peter was pleased that Sunderland managed to stay up by the skin of their teeth again this year. They always seem to leave it till the last minute!
Beckford on loan from Bolton scored a hatrick for PNE. He couldn't hit a barn door for us :)
