I have known that Stephanie is a professional baker since I started following her project in 2013. Imagine my surprise when she presented me with this gift she had baked, and the delight when I tasted it! (Oh, and she even provided a photo op here, as you see . . . a true 365 friend.). She uses fresh fruits of all kinds, and after the cake is baked she bastes it with something delectable.
*update from @stephomy: "The fruit list is: apricots, pears, apples, blueberries, cherries, peaches, raisins (black and golden), and and some homemade candied citrus peels. Instead of nuts, I added sunflower seeds, and then brushed it in a mixtures of simple syrup and brandy every day for a week and a half."
What better photo to start another 365 year than one that represents a 365 friendship?
May 2019 bring us all good photo opportunities and good friendships.
@stephomy -- DELICIOUS !!!!! You are such a fabulous baker! Would you help me fill in more details to my narration? I remember you said two kinds of apricots, and something about bourbon (?) for days?
This looks so delicious! Happy New Year Junko- let’s hope it’s a healthy one for us all! Another year started on 365 - me too! Such a wonderful place to meet fantastic people!
Thanks for the excellent wishes for 2019 - it's such a positive time of the year with all those fresh starts stretching ahead of us. And this truly looks a yummy gift - a fitting start to what I hope will be a good 2019 for you. :)
This really does look delicious. Here's to good friends. I wish you many happy and restorative days through 2019 and look forward as always, to seeing your photos.
Oh, that's such a great picture of my cake. I feel special that it made your first picture of the year. The fruit list is: apricots, pears, apples, blueberries, cherries, peaches, raisins (black and golden), and and some homemade candied citrus peels. Instead of nuts, I added sunflower seeds, and then brushed it in a mixtures of simple syrup and brandy every day for a week and a half.
oh, my lord! help me. i have not had fruit cake during the holidays. not even a simple stollen bread. and now that i've seen this and read what's in it, i don't think i'd want to have any but this. it sounds sinfully delectable. @stephomy must share the recipe. you must! you must!
Yummy! Lucky you and beautifully presented in your photo...enough to make me drool. And yes, I hope we get together again this year. Any word from Africa?
All the best in 2019 Junko!
