Bald Eagle at Gazzam Lake by jyokota

Bald Eagle at Gazzam Lake

So on the rare occasion that I might see a bald eagle, why do I not have my real camera with me??? Best viewed small as it has been cropped enormously.
What a magnificent animal!

So wonderful to see a bald eagle!! I had the same problem this year in Nova Scotia - every time I saw one I had the wrong lens on!! Definitely Murphy's Law as Joan says.

Oh well at least you were able to still get a photo of this magnificent bird.

Isn't it always the way!! Still a great capture.

You were there, that's the most important thing! But oh, I feel your frustration at not having a camera in your hand! What a treat to see this guy. Love it. Teeny tiny, cropped, but magnificent as a creature.

Beautiful.

It's frustrating but you were still able to enjoy the experience of seeing it :)

Junko, it's always that way with cameras. So frustrating. it's usually buzzards sitting on a fence post that catch me out

well, at least you got a shot. a hawk landed on my balcony last spring and all i could do was gape in awe and the hawk and i had a staring match. and that was the one day i had the camera in the living room out of the tripod and in my bedroom (okay, that's another story i'm not telling :-)) when i recovered, i ran to get the camera and when i came back the bugger recovered, too, and had flown. i laughed at "best viewed small" but still you get an "aces!" from me.

Fab!

Fantastic capture without your main camera! Loved the best viewed small -- I can relate!

It's always that way...

oh so lucky to see one - cool perspective from above as it surveys its domain below.

what a find, they must be amazing to see (and it's so wrong you didn't have your real camera!)

He is amazing....wonderful capture!

How cool!

Great shot. You at least had a camera, I didn't when one flew in front of me.

He is stunning! I actually saw some in East Texas last week - one swooped down, hooked talons with another one and they flipped in a circle, let go, and flew away. It was the most incredible site! Anyhow, I love how he stands our against the trees.

Ooh cool! It's always magical when you see one. I take a picture no matter how fuzzy, every time haha.

Treat to see nonetheless. I’m finding my RX 10 disappointing with birds
January 4th, 2019
You’d be welcome anytime...I can’t believe you were in seattle and didn’t come south!

@jgpittenger -- that would have involved driving many hours, which I try to avoid. So I'll just have to plan a separate trip again some time! I'm sorry RX10 is disappointing with birds -- I'm finding that for the ones at a distance, like this one, but the birds I got at the Grand Canyon were good, I thought. Of course, they were right in front of our faces! http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2018-10-28 http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2018-10-31
But the Sony works great on chipmunks!
