So on the rare occasion that I might see a bald eagle, why do I not have my real camera with me??? Best viewed small as it has been cropped enormously.
So wonderful to see a bald eagle!! I had the same problem this year in Nova Scotia - every time I saw one I had the wrong lens on!! Definitely Murphy's Law as Joan says.
You were there, that's the most important thing! But oh, I feel your frustration at not having a camera in your hand! What a treat to see this guy. Love it. Teeny tiny, cropped, but magnificent as a creature.
well, at least you got a shot. a hawk landed on my balcony last spring and all i could do was gape in awe and the hawk and i had a staring match. and that was the one day i had the camera in the living room out of the tripod and in my bedroom (okay, that's another story i'm not telling :-)) when i recovered, i ran to get the camera and when i came back the bugger recovered, too, and had flown. i laughed at "best viewed small" but still you get an "aces!" from me.
He is stunning! I actually saw some in East Texas last week - one swooped down, hooked talons with another one and they flipped in a circle, let go, and flew away. It was the most incredible site! Anyhow, I love how he stands our against the trees.
@jgpittenger -- that would have involved driving many hours, which I try to avoid. So I'll just have to plan a separate trip again some time! I'm sorry RX10 is disappointing with birds -- I'm finding that for the ones at a distance, like this one, but the birds I got at the Grand Canyon were good, I thought. Of course, they were right in front of our faces! http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2018-10-28http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2018-10-31
