So shiny! by ljmanning

So shiny!

A couple more shots from yesterday’s museum visit. This is a section of the steam engine, where the pistons drive into the cylinder. The brass cups are for oiling the system. Being an oiler was a full-time job.
The engines were absolutely immaculate and you would never know they were more than 160 years old.
Great colours and shapes. Well spotted.

There's something that is quite beautiful when it comes to old machinery. Good shot!

Beautiful capture of the soft lustre on this engine. I wonder if it looked this clean when it was up and running.

In the old days, craftsmen could make things that lasted. In a consumer society, that is no longer the goal.
