Segregation

This is one of the segregation cells at Kingston Penitentiary, or solitary confinement for friends south of the border. Inmates were assigned here as punishment for infractions, but there were also several prisoners in permanent segregation for their own safety. They were in these cells 23 hours per day, with one hour of “outdoor” time in a walled yard that was only about 15 metres x 15 metres. They had almost no interaction with any other human being.

Great pov of this cell and the dim lighting can really bring out the emotion of the scene.

Looks very austere, but I suppose it should!

You captured the solitude here. Wonderful light. I can't imagine being in that cell 23 hours a day!

You've captured the feeling really well. It feels very lonely.
