I treated myself to a photo day out today, visiting a conservation area that also has a bird of prey centre.
In one meadow, near the lake, there are row upon row of nest boxes. This is Swallow Town, inhabited by these gorgeous little tree swallows. The males have beautiful iridescent plumage, while the females are slightly duller and more brown. They are tiny songbirds, only 12-15 cm in length (4.7 - 5.9 inches). They catch insects in flight and are very acrobatic flyers.
