This cowboy tree ornament shows a rodeo event called “steer wrestling” or bulldogging. A horse mounted rider jumps off the horse by the steer and wrestles the steer to the ground by grabbing his horns and throwing him off balance. The cowboy that takes the least amount of time to get the steer onto the ground wins! It’s a very dangerous event for the cowboy, studies have shown it’s not dangerous at all for the steers, only one five hundredth of one percent get hurt. So if you are ever in the Southwest part of the USA, drop by a rodeo, there are many great events, not all of them as dangerous as this. People come from all over the world to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas the first of December every year, where the best of the best compete for the sport’s top honors.
Fantastic cowboy ornament and very interesting information. I've never been one to follow rodeos but I've attended quite a few San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo events.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments, I appreciate you taking the time! @gaylewood my parents took me to my first rodeo when I was 6 years old, I started crying uncontrollably when a cowboy roped a calf and threw him to the ground. They took me home and I didn’t see another rodeo till I was in my late teens, smile.
