Holly is an extraordinary book reviewer/lecturer. We are in a “deep freeze” right now. For the first time since 1989 our low temperatures are setting records. We are going through rolling power grid blackouts, using our fireplace for heat. I won’t be getting out for several days so looking through my photos I thought I could use Holly’s photo for a portrait.
impressive shot, law. aces. please don't send your weather to canada. americans are always making fun of our weather. when they say canada they think of igloos. what they don't know is that the weather system from the gulf goes northward giving you guys the cold and then travels more northerly and dumps the snow on us. thanks, america! 😂 🤣 but we'll take the weather anytime, but not "the nasty" people.
Beautiful portrait! TN is experiencing ice - much worse than snow - and temps in the teens and 20s. But as long as I have electricity, heat, running water, and internet/cable, I'm a happy camper. Hope you and yours stay safe and warm.
What a wonderful portrait. Ozark had the rolling blackout this afternoon too - cold out. Tonight is supposed to be the coldest of the week - below zero. Do wish I had paid attention to how Bill used to build the fires. Haven't used the fireplace since he died.
@milaniet oh my! Well our fireplace has sure helped with these temperatures. Ours is a gas log one. You could probably get yours converted to gas, a lot easier. I do love a wood fire but have been thankful for our gas logs during these bitter cold days and nights.
What a happy portrait!
The weather you are experiencing is amazing! Friends, mainly in Houston, have had frozen pipes (no water) and no power.
In Nadya's apartment the heater broke, but luckily a technician could do a "temporary fix".
Happy to hear your fireplace is working well!
beautiful face ... Good luck with those blackouts -- my grandkids in Nowata, OK are having them too. Here in Iowa, with the wind chill factor, we are at 25 degrees below zero tonight.
She has a nice friendly smile which makes for a very nice portrait! Your friends up North truly understand about the cold and ice- but we're prepared for it- most of the time! Stay by the fire and enjoy the "hibernating" time until that snow melts and things warm up!
Stay safe and warm............staying inside if you can is probably a safe thing to do!
