In Memory

On the other side of the Big Top, just posted, there is a line of old oak trees planted in 1918. Beneath each one is a memorial to a fallen soldier in the First World War. This particular cross is for Sergeant Cunningham and maybe his brother, Corporal Cunningham. The first man was killed in France in 1917 and the second at Gallipoli in 1915. There are miles of these oak trees and memorials in different parts of North Otago.
Very interesting to put them with oak trees. Lots of wonderful old myths and wives tales about the oak trees. Nice tribute!
