Our spare bedroom has been occupied with these prizes for the fishing contest. It was to be held last weekend at Easter but was postponed from the Saturday to the Sunday as sea condtions were too rough. In spite of brilliant sun and warm temperatures, it was postponed again on Sunday! I recent cyclone had lashed the sea down the east coast of New Zealand and we had caught the tail of it. It is now on the 21st April and we hope we don't have any guests for the next two weeks Prizes are marvellous with cameras, vouchers, fishing buoyance vests, toys, food, electrical equipment and tools!
@jaboney No, Mike - this is a Lion's project to raise money for a worthy cause. The men all get out at 5am and help launch about 70 boats with three tractors, then get them out of the water and parked. Then the fish is weighed and the heaviest of each species gets a prize. The fish is then filleted and auctioned off to the public. Couldnt be fresher!
Sounds a very worth while cause but also a very exciting competition with such good prizes to be won !! hope we will see some photos when it eventually gets under way !
