This church has a sad and interesting history. At WHARANUI, halfway between Blenheim and Kaikoura NZ we stopped at a lovely old stone church right beside the road: St. Oswalds Awatere Christian Joint Parish. This little church was built in 1927 by the Murray family in memory of their 19 year old son who died in 1924 in Switzerland.
The stone was quarried from the nearby small stream. The church has beautiful stained glass windows and a small cemetery.
How sad but a lovely tribute! Great shot! I love the way the church is in focus but all round the edge is blurry! Is this done in camera or in processing?
@pamknowler it is done in processing - called tilt shift or something! Those very clever people with good cameras can do it within the camera but I think its just a way to show the subject to its best with the after processing
A beautiful tribute in memory of a son who's life had been cut short !!! so nice to have the stones quarried locally . The church looks so pristine & well cared for -- I would love to have a quiet moment inside this shrine
Nice shot. A very lovely building. That's some history it has. I like how you processed it to have the edges blurred while keeping the church in focus. It almost gives a toy like quality to it. Nice job.
