The railcar was supposed to go by itself but because the compressor that handled the brakes failed, we had to have an engine to pull us all the way!
Coffee and tea provided free and there was even beer and wine to buy! What could be nicer than a cold glass of sauvignon blanc while passing beautiful scenery - mountains, rivers, farmland, beaches, bush clad hills!
@kiwisnapper Its a one off rail trip, Ashley - maybe a forerunner for more such trips. Hotel stays and day trips in the train. Would be fantastic if it went smoothly but these sort of trips don't always!
Sounds like a great trip idea. I live rail travel when we go to Europe (except the night train between Milan and Paris- big mistake with a 6'2" husband in a 5'6" wide couchette!).
It all looks rather cosy....interesting to see that most of the seats face forward I presume....only the odd four seated table I presume that has facing seats. So thing about rail travel that is exciting!
LOL I'm looking at Vikki's comment and was about to write- looks very posh and comfy! I would love to take a train trip across the US- especially in the north. Maybe someday... Good shot!
So many adventures on this rail trip.....it sounds like it was doomed from the beginning, and yet you had such a wonderful time and made so many memories! The inside of this car looks very plush and civilized.....sorry about all the other problems!
