As I remarked in my other photo, John went across the road to talk to the young guys renting this property who seemed to have many parties. Their loud music could be heard from a long way and often went late into the night! John said, OK guys, don't mind the hi-jinks and music but shut your doors and turn the bass down by 11pm! They were very polite and agreed to do this. Inevitably the subject of "The World's Fastest Indian' came up as one of them recognised John!
This of course produced great smiles and the desire to fit in.
I was darting around bushes on my side of the road ready to photograph any belligerent action but just caught this! It was quite a long way over there!
Well then, that is a positive outcome for all. The guys get to live across the street from the "coolest neighbor in the world" and you get a quiet night! Glad that they're smiling. Too many times around here it's not so pleasant.
This looks a lovely exchange of words! I wonder if John went across & said....Do you know who I am? I doubt it but it came in handy being Burt Munro's son in this instance....respect man! I do hope they remember! They do look nice lads if a tad thoughtless
@happypat One of them said, 'haven't I seen you on tv?". I like the way they play out on their big front lawn - it was foot ball this time but in other times its been a small swimming pool that they put up, then a soccer goal post and other odd structures!
It looks like the exchange was friendly and hopefully the youngsters will now respect their neighbours a wee tad. One can deal with the music etc on occasion and as long as it doesn't go on into the wee hours!
Good that you manage to sneak a shot of them. I didn't make the connection before. Funnily enough we just recorded the film although have seen it before.
Oh, this is a joy to see! I love reading stories when young neighbors 'get' that they are part of a neighborhood. We are in an area with a lot of students, O can really appreciate the outcome. And very cool that they recognized him.
I love your spying photo!! Had they just spotted you in this? And I never know that John was famous! I have seen the movie though and loved it. So cool!!
That sounds like a lot of neighborhoods. We have an older than teenager who played his drums in their garage across the street from us....... all hours of the day and night. After talking to him and his parents and getting no where, we finally went to our Home Owners Association -- and they stopped it forever. The neighborhood is quiet again.
I would love to have seen you ducking and diving behind the bushes to get this shot. Now that would have been another photo! Good that it all turned out well.
I love to see these sneaky shots of yours! Well done John! It helps to have a famous father - so pleased that they were impressed! I watched the film and it was such a great story! Let's hope the lads remember to turn it down late at night!
