Shingle Creek Hotel by maggiemae

Shingle Creek Hotel

I can't find much information about this hotel - the original was built in 1870 but this looks quite modern. I think they tried to sell it then gave up and now it just opens now and then. It's by itself in this mountainous territory with a fabulous view over the wild terrain.
Neat shot of it nestled in the hills! one wonders how much traffic passes by!

It looks really isolated! But it must be an interesting place to stay and visit. Very rugged terrain.

Looks like it is in the middle of no where.

This is a main road from Central to Dunedin on the coast, Katy and lots of traffic but no one wants to stay here now! @grammyn

@olivetreeann It is really just a tavern now - a meeting place for farmers over a beer or two. But our driving and liquor regulations have cut down the isolated pub frequenters!

@maggiemae I guess people will drive a long ways to their favorite spot if they have to!

Great shot and processing, like the muted colours

What a great location, all alone out there

Looks like a great place to escape for a while.

@fntngrma I wish, Rosan - we would if we could - its only a tavern and doesn't have accommodation!

I really like the muted colours in this shot - they seem to highlight the hotel.

Love your POV and those foreground rocks - you should tag it for the theme isolated object!

@nickspicsnz I did that specifically, Nick - thanks for noticing - SC in a way!

Lovely processing to bring out the tavern. Looks to be in a very picturesque area.

That certainly would be getting away from it all!

Nice shot, perspective, textured hills

A great setting to "get away" I like your choice of processing. Would be interesting to see what they have to offer.

I would think that the isolated setting and the landscape would be a draw card for this establishment.

You pov adds to the sense of isolation. Nicely done

It really does look isolated and all those rocks make a really rough terrain. Great processing.

What a pity it's not open all the time. Looks like it could be a great place to stay and explore.

good POV to show the isolation of this hotel.
