Country pub lunch by maggiemae

Country pub lunch

Stanley's Hotel was built in 1882 and today it looks just the same as in those days. Dark inside. A real country pub, not a trendy one. The seats are uncomfortable - you have to perch at high table - more intended for the drinking beer type customer. However the food was good and when you come out of the cool dark interior, it was nice to bathe in the Central Otago sun and brightness.
On the way up to this high plateau, we passed fences clad in pig skins - dozens of them!

John is waving his hand at me!
hello, mr. cool!

Great place to stop - and typical of the time, the pub is almost right onto the road! Hi John!
