This sculpture of a Moa is outside the Price Waterhouse building in Auckland. The moa were nine species of flightless birds endemic to New Zealand. The two largest species reached about 3.6m (12 ft) in height with neck outstretched, and weighed about 230kg (510lb). When Polynesians settled in New Zealand in CE 1280 the moa population was about 58,000. (Info courtesy of good old Wikipedia.)
BTW, if you're ever photographing in Auckland you're not allowed to take photos inside the Price Waterhouse building without permission - even though you have to walk through it to get out of the Downtown public car park. Nor are you allowed to use tripods at Britomart Railway Station (although you can use cameras!). We got told off by security people in both places :(
@julzmaioro Thanks Julia. Although I don't think this is their moa because this was on the pavement outside. They had sculptures inside that we were taking photos of which we got told off about - oops!
