Dull

When we last left Milo, he was driving along and day-dreaming away. Since he was not paying attention, he veered off course and became side-tracked. The result was as follows:

Things began to change as soon as he left the main highway. The sky became quite gray and along with it, the whole countryside seemed to lose its color and assume the same monotonous tone. Everything was quiet, and even the air hung heavily. The birds sang only gray songs and the road wound back and forth in an endless series of climbing curves. Mile after mile after mile after mile he drove, and now gradually the car went slower and slower, until it was hardly moving at all. "It looks like I'm getting nowhere," yawned Milo, becoming very drowsy and dull." I hope I haven't taken a wrong turn."

Of course, Milo has taken a wrong turn and he's ended up in a place called The Doldrums. This will prove to be the first obstacle of Milo's adventure. Stay tuned to see what happens!

It was very nice of Mother Nature to cooperate with me today by providing this "lovely" dull day! However, using your imagination is a wonderful way to combat the doldrums so it's not affecting me!
Entertaining story... and there is something about that dark gray sky that I like - I don't know - but now I feel sleepy too...

@michaelelliott haha Michael- funny! I can't keep my eyes open today! There is definitely a nap in my future!
@kimmiesue Thanks Kim- I would highly suggest it for Elias! The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year so I'm sure there'll be copies of it out and about). Also it was made into an animated feature which I'm sure is somewhere in DVD land- but in my opinion it doesn't really come close to the creativity of the book. The book is illustrated and both of my boys enjoyed readng it.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@karenann Thanks Karenann! Yes- I'm finishing up some 365 stuff and then taking a nap!!

@melorac lol Carole- after watching Elizabeth Hanna post something like 50 grey skies in a row on one of her albums, I can hardly complain about one dull day!

Very fitting for the story line, and I like how the colors still come through nicely, even through the fog.

Looks kind of eerie

@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- I guess? It was just a grey day with heavy clouds. Now, if the fog had been coming up from the valley- that would have been eerie!
