After a really wild weather day yesterday, the evening didn't get any better. The rain poured and the wind was really strong and then about 9.30 pm the power went off.
Out came the candles, torches and lanterns and of course the small gas burner to make a cup of tea using the whistle kettle.
Here is David sitting in the kitchen drinking a cup of tea by candlelight. Had to record this.
Love that little lantern we could do with one of those, the weather was awful over the weekend however today is much brighter here. Nice to see a shot with candlelight.
Great shot!! I have wondered how my grandmother did all her fancy sewing by candle light! Our power went off for an hour this afternoon. Reason unknown.
Well what a marvelous photo op the black-out has provided you with and you have captured it perfectly, the exposure is spot on. What we'll do for a cup of tea eh!
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. The weather has improved here too now. We have two gas lanterns and they are brilliant. I think you can get them in Bunnings or from camping stores, or on ebay.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. Couldn't let the opportunity pass to take a photo. As soon as the lights went out I wanted a cuppa so out came the mini camping stove and the whistle kettle.
I remember doing my homework when I was a kid by candlelight as we had lots o fstrikes in the uk in those years and lost power quite regularly. A memory, for sure!
@angelar I remember power strikes in the UK in the '70's too. We lived in North Wales at the time. My daughter @gypsy6 probably came under the 'power strike statistics' as lots of babies were born round that time!!! Luckily here we only get power cuts when we have wild weather.
