I don't very often take photos of flowers. As Paul Everest @steampowered said he doesn't see me as a flower person and he is probably right.
I saw this flower though while walking along the waterfront and had to put it in here because for some unknown reason it has the name "pigface". Don't know how that came about. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
@gypsy6 I know these flowers CIA the name sticks. I think it may be the pink in it. @steampowered. Mum is so NOT a flowery person:). I love the orange tinge in the middle
Well I think you should take more flower pics (if you feel so inclined Babs) as this is a really good image of a pretty (if unfortunately named) plant. What beautiful bright colours. (I seem to be liking brackets this evening!!)
@tillycarter@yaorenliu@sbolden@humphreyhippo Thanks for your lovely comments. Nobody seems to know why it is called pigface. Google says that it is Carpobrotus (commonly known as pigface, ice plant, and Hottentot plant) but nothing about why. Perhaps we will never know.
@angelar Thanks Angela. I see flowers, but don't tend to take photos of them very often. This one grows in sand by the beach so is pretty tough. Still don't know why it is called pigface though.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. Perhaps I should take more flowers, I see them, but always seem to spot something else too on the days I do take a flower photo and the other photo gets top billing. The interesting thing about this one though is the name. How did that happen!!!
I don't know why it's called Pig Face, but have known it as that all my life, and it's such a beautiful flower, and makes a lovely show along the beach front.
