Very hazy and the smell of smoke is in the air this morning in the bay, must be bush fires around. 30 degrees c at present. Very dry. We desperately need some rain.
Spotted this chap as I was walking along the waterfront.
Wow...that is some wide boat! Should hold a lot of fish!!! Doesn't look like it would go fast, but probably does. Lovely blue water. Is it typically so dry this time of year?
@eyesmile I think it is a home made job. the chap who owns it has a house on the waterfront and moors it just in front of his house, tied to a mangrove. I think it is some sort of pontoon with an outboard motor attached. You will see that he is sitting in a garden chair. Eccentric millionaire I think!!
No it isn't usually as dry as this in winter. August is the end of winter and we usually have an average of about 75 mm of rain in August. this August we had 23 mm and I think the last time it rained was about the middle of August. 30 degrees C today and we could get a thunder storm tonight, maybe, hopefully!!!!
Thats warm to September and not good if you are having fires this early. I heard on the news that NSW currently has 40 fires burning:( hope you get some rain soon.
@gerry Thanks Gerry. @joeyc Thanks Joey. We just love it here. David was posted here when he was in the RAAF years ago and when he retired we decided that there was probably nowhere better than this, so we stayed. @joluise It is warm for September. 30 degrees yesterday and very windy which fanned the fires. Luckily the nearest one to us was about 20 km away. @estherhelen Thanks Esther. @angelat Thanks Angela. I have seen the boat moored in amongst the mangroves before and have wondered how on earth it moves, so was lucky to spot the chap getting in it and taking off!! @iwatts Thanks Ian @paulaw It is strange. I think it is a home made thing with a motor attached, His seat is a garden chair. It is hot for September and really dry too which is a worry. 40 bush fires on the go yesterday in our region. I think it is going to be a long hot summer. Still no rain!!! @humphreyhippo Thanks, I loved the folds in the water too. @heidihp 30 degrees is good, but not so good when it is so dry because we always end up with bush fires. It has been such a dry winter I think we will be in for a lot of fires this summer if it doesn't rain soon.
@elaine55 It is a very odd boat. I was amazed that it actually moved in the water. It has been a bit cooler today. It wasn't the heat which was the problem, it was the smell of smoke from the fires.
