Friday people day again. Today's picture was taken at the Celtic Festival last Saturday. They had re-enactments of battles and really got down to business with attacking each other. They must have been worn out by the time they had finished. You must have to be fit to play games like this.
David and I have spent the morning putting our photo club members monthly winner photos into the gallery matts and putting the titles on them ready for our photo club exhibition.
This afternoon will really have to be spent doing housework ugh! I am afraid the vacuum desperately needs an airing. The house looks as though a bomb has hit it!!!
YOu have some very interesting events going on in your part of the world!! I think you should be very nice to these people, they are carrying dangerous weapons!
Is sit Friday already? I love your Friday people shots! These guys look very authentic...like from a movie set. Great capture! So interesting. I should have a special day for something...hmmmm. Vacuum? eh...what IS that? So many better things to do!!
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. they are very authentic. The chain mail weighs a ton and the helmets are very well made, as are the rest of the outfits and equipment. They try to keep to how things were made in Roman times.
PS I am over the vacuuming now. Back on the anti housework medication so should be okay for a while again!!!
@humphreyhippo@gamelee Thanks. The costumes are very authentic. They take this 'game' very seriously. The chain mail weighs a ton as do the weapons and they really beat hell out of each other too. Not for the faint hearted!!!
@mcmary Thanks Mary. Yes they really do take it all very seriously. they are a group called The Vanguard Re-enactment guild and they meet up regularly to do combat training etc. The outfits are authentic and really heavy.. I picked up one of their chain mail outfits and it weighs a ton. The helmets are heavy too. There were about 15 of them on this particular day and in one battle, the chap in the middle here beat about 10 of them in a one to one battle. I bet he needed a lie down after that lot!!!
Great shot of what must have been a great spectacle! The guy in front looks a bit like Elvis in the face! Or hadn't you noticed? I hope it wasn't that really hot day for their sake! The colours are really great! What fun they must have had in the good old days!
@angelat Thanks Angela. I think it was about 25 degrees that day, which I think was quite hot enough for them to be prancing around in that gear. Hadn't noticed that the chap in the middle looked like Elvis. when he took his helmet off though he is quite fair haired.
@sunraye Thanks Raye. David and I have taken a bit of a back seat this year for the exhibition. We more or less ran the whole show for our exhibitions in the last 3 years, but this year has been a bit of a strain for us both, so we have only done limited organizing this time. We have just collected the winning photos over the last 12 months and put them in our gallery matts, titled them and they are all ready to be shown now. Somebody else's turn to do the rest!!
@ginnykoppenhol Thanks Ginny. They were in an arena and were competing in a one on one battle. The Roman had just been defeated and the other two were waiting their turn to be selected. The winner at the end of this event was the Viking in the middle of this shot.
PS I am over the vacuuming now. Back on the anti housework medication so should be okay for a while again!!!
