How did that happen!

The title of this photo is for Nic. Thanks so much Nic for being a really good pal.

This is a filler from Sunday in Newcastle.

Who on earth would think of crocheting a 'leg warmer' for a set of traffic lights? Never seen anything like this before and I don't suppose anyone else has either. Must find out one day what the story is behind it.

It is close to my favourite second hand book shop and I am sure that the owner of that shop will know something about this interesting piece of artwork.
I remember that I have seen either a film or documentary about two girls got out at night and putting knitwears around trees and poles.

This is pretty fascinating public art! Maybe your Arts in the City Program paid an artist to create this work of art! Do you have Hipster's there? Awesome capture, Babs!

It's called yarn bombing. It's a type of graffiti that uses knitting or crochet.

Well you learn something new every day. What strikes me is that not only have they had to crotchet this but someone has had to stand in the street and sew it to the post - or was it stuck on??

Jo
Does it just stay there until it rots away I wonder. This sort of knit art is quite popular.

@sunraye Thanks Raye. I doubt anywould have paid the artist to do this work. The area where it is situated is a bit of an arty place, so I suspect it was just someone's idea of artistic interpretation. OBTW what are "Hipster's"?

Nice crochet ! There are lots of these at Dee Why beach too. Didn't know it was called yarn bombing though.
