Yesterday was so hot and humid that last night David and I decided to go out for a walk when the temperature cooled slightly. We came across Santa sitting in his driveway with his house illuminated. I asked him if I could take his photo and he was very obliging. Tomorrow I will put on here the house with its illuminations.
Santa told us that it took three and a half weeks to set up the lights and he loves doing it for the kiddies. Such a lovely chap.
@steampowered I bet he was hot under all that gear. Never thought of that at the time. It was a pretty hot and humid night. I was just wearing sleeveless top, shorts and sandals and I was pretty warm and my glasses were steaming up with the humidity. Everyone knows that Santa is as tough as old boots though. He has to be when he goes round the whole world in one night.
@zenna Thanks. He was a lovely chap. We had quite a chat together. He said he just loved doing it for the kids and any passing children he has a chat to.
@angelat Thanks Angela. He was a lovely chap. Really friendly. Mind you it probably goes with the job doesn't it. Couldn't really have a grumpy Santa!!!
@lafish Know what you mean Laurie. Having come to Australia from the northern hemisphere myself 25 years ago it felt strange to me too at first. I got used to Christmas in summer very quickly and love it. However, Easter in Autumn still feels odd. To go in the shops and see Easter eggs when we know it will be winter soon, catches me out every time.
@joluise I know. This house is just down the road from where we live and at Salamander Bay there are about 12 houses all next to each other competing against each other for the brightest and best display. Seems a bit like hard work to me.
