For our overseas 365ers Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove, New South Wales.
I spotted these two people at the celebrations this morning.
@kezza1319@tesssa@mrsbaldy@mercuria Thanks so much. sorry for the group reply, but Australia day will be over in about half an hour and I am off to bed. Hope you all had a good day too.
@happysnap Thanks Linda. It was a fun day and the weather was just right. This whole family were dressed up for the occasion, but as this was in the park by the ocean the shot I took of the five of them had people, bins, flags etc in the way, too much to clone out!!
@jackie8@iwatts@angelar@huvesaker@heidihp@gerry Thank you all. The weather was just right for Australia Day. We only stayed at the park for a little while and then came home and had a lazy day. Australia Day always brings out the eccentrics and this year was no exception. The only problem was trying to get a photo of some of them without obstructions in the way. It was pretty busy at the park with lots going on.
Love this. Thanks for the explanation for Australia Day. I used to teach geography and wish I had known it then and I would have had all my little TX students celebrate the day!!
@libertylady thanks Alice. Sorry for late reply, but been away for a few days in Canberra. I am sure you can persuade some students to celebrate Australia day.
